Yesterday I met with Golf NSW to discuss the Lord Mayor’s unnecessary and divisive proposal to halve Moore Park Golf Course from a world-class 18 holes.
NSW’s peak representative golfing body agrees that it is crucial that Moore Park is maintained as a championship public golf course to serve both residents and visitors to Sydney.
It was interesting to learn that Clover Moore’s claims that golf is increasingly unpopular are blatantly false. In fact, Golf NSW has seen a 40% increase in membership numbers since the start of the pandemic. That’s back to participation levels not seen since the 1990s.
Public consultation on the Lord Mayor’s proposal to cut Moore Park Golf Course in half will be open from November 9 to December 7. To protect ‘Sydney’s Golf Course’, I encourage you to have your say at the City of Sydney’s ‘Your Say’ website here: www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/consultations
