On Saturday 24 February I attended the ‘Save Kings X Rally’ where more than 250 came together to protest a plan to demolish an iconic set of buildings to replace them with apartments described as “bland, blank and soulless” by local resident Andrew Woodhouse.
At last Monday night’s Council meeting I moved a motion for the City of Sydney to develop a strategic master-plan for the Cross. Unfortunately the Lord Mayor and her party members voted this down.
I’ll continue to engage with the local community and fight for a balance of residential and retail amenity as well as the need to preserve the area’s unique cultural character as it transitions away from its historical late night entertainment culture.
